About Sigrid

 
Most people know the name Sigrid Olsen from seeing my fashion ads on the pages of Vogue and Elle or by recalling the label once seen in many major departments stores and emblazoned on the doors of over 50 Sigrid Olsen retail stores across the US and Canada. For over 20 years I devoted 100% of my creative energy to this one pursuit, traveling the world for inspiration and collaborating with a team of designers and merchandisers to create multiple clothing collections every season. Then in 2008 my life made an abrupt about-face when the business was closed by our parent company.

My life today is quite different from the fast paced roller coaster I rode through my years in the apparel industry. I have a new definition of success, having simplified, down-sized and returned to my roots as an artist. I feel more creatively stimulated than ever. Now I spend most of my days happily ensconced in my home studio, where I immerse myself in painting new artwork, ceramics, designing cards, and dreaming of new ways to express myself.  My studio and gallery are located in the tiny artist's colony and summer community of Rocky Neck in Gloucester, Massachusetts, where we welcome visitors from around the world. We also have a new retail venture called ISLA beach house where we showcase an island-inspired collection of casual clothing and accessories from around the world in a funky harbor-side shack.

In March of 2011 we opened a second location in Sarasota Florida after a long search for a winter home for the gallery and beach house. Here we have combined the gallery artwork, ceramics and cards with the ISLA collection of "beach to bistro" clothing, accessories and home decor.

In addition to my studio work, I have my hands in a variety of projects from a self-published cookbook, yoga and art-infused travel retreats, speaking engagements, and a book proposal.

This website is a new medium of expression for me to share my latest creations, inner revelations and dreams for the future.
